Minor fire put out at Tampa hotel

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – 30 Tampa firefighters responded to a structure fire just after noon Sunday at the Grand Suites Hotel located on the 11000 block of N. 30th Street.

Firefighters said they had to force their way into a room on the second floor where the fire started because it was unoccupied.

Once firefighters found where the smoke was coming from, they said it only took minutes to control.

Fire, smoke and water damage was minor to moderate, according to the fire department, and were contained to the two effected rooms.

Firefighters also said damage will not affect the hotels rooming for other patrons.

TFD said no one was injured and the cause of the fire unknown at this time, but has been ruled accidental.
