Zephyrhills mayor invites George H.W. Bush to skydive in Pasco

ZEPHYRHILLS (TBO.com) - Mayor Gene Whitfield has invited former President George H.W. Bush Sr. to celebrate his next milestone birthday with a tandem jump at Zephryhills’ Skydive City.

Bush, the nation’s 41st president, completed his eighth tandem jump last week on his 90th birthday in Kennebunkport, Maine. He has also jumped with members of the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team on his 75th, 80th and 85th birthday.

Whitfield said the tandem jump would be free with the city picking up the cost.

“Whether President Bush knows it or not, he is an inspiration to so many people around the world, not just for his years of public service, but for the example he sets by making every day count and living an active, healthy life well into his golden years,” Whitfield said. “I felt compelled to communicate that on behalf of the citizens of Zephyrhills, and in the spirit of Zephyrhills’ commitment to the ‘Healthy 100’ lifestyle. It would be a thrill for all of us to see him jump here at SkydiveCity on the day he turns 100,” the mayor added. “In fact, if he would like to bring [former] President George W. Bush and [former] Gov. Jeb Bush along with him, we’ll arrange so they can all jump together!”
