Dave Mason has a companion album of sorts to his current "Traffic Jam" tour.
The rocker tells Pollstar.com that since his shows primarily feature Traffic material and his early solo work, he's decided to "sort of revisit the past" in the studio. He says Futures Past includes "a rewritten version" of "Dear Mr. Fantasy,"' as well as "a completely revised version" of "World In Changes" and "a great live recording" of "Sad and Deep as You" -- two songs from his 1970 debut solo album.
The new eight-track set also includes re-worked renditions of Traffic's "You Can All Join In" and three songs from Dave's 2008 album, "26 Letters 12 Notes." There's only one new song in the collection, titled "That's Freedom."
Mason's Futures Past will be in stores on May 13th. He has "Traffic Jam" shows scheduled through the end of the year. He'll be performing in Lewisburg, West Virginia on Friday, and Rocky Mount, Virginia on Saturday.
